As PS1 Turns 30, Here Are Its Best-Selling Games In The US - GameSpot

Everything from Gran Turismo to Spyro is featured in the top 20 best-selling PS1 games of all time in the US. To commemorate the anniversary, Mat Piscatella over at the analyst firm Circana has shared many of the best-selling games across PlayStation’s long history, including the top sellers on PS1 in the United States. This first of these lists is arranged by units sold, while the second one ranks these titles by dollars made on the releases and neither of these lists account for copies sold via hardware bundles. Interestingly, the lists points to a discrepancy where renowned games like the Resident Evil titles rank as far as money made, but don't crack the top 20 when considering units sold. Some of the inclusions here, like Frogger and Jampack--which is a series of compilations--are just plainly out of left field, but that makes this PS1 list a really fun one to pore over. Piscatella and Circana also shared a list running down the best-selling games across all PlayStation platforms, and even released one detailing how games on the much-maligned Sega Dreamcast sold, since that also shares a birthday with the PS1.GameSpot may receive revenue from affiliate and advertising partnerships for sharing this content and from purchases through links.

8 Best Games Like Cuphead

The Best Games Like Cuphead have similarly impressive art or deep gameplay. Let me put this in no uncertain terms: I love Cuphead. It is one of my most favorite games of the last decade, if not of all time. I love its gameplay, I love its animation, I love its music, I love its aesthetic. If we’re talking about games that directly inspired Cuphead’s gameplay, and are thus like Cuphead by definition, the first and foremost that must be highlighted is that run ‘n gun classic, Gunstar Heroes. From that description alone, you can already smell the Cuphead, but unlike in that game, where levels and bosses are specifically sectioned off, Gunstar Heroes has a handful of long levels alternating between run ‘n gun platforming and direct boss battles. It’s definitely worth trying Alien Soldier for yourself just to get an idea of what Studio MDHR was aspiring to there. Similarly to Gunstar Heroes, Alien Soldier is a run ‘n gun game, albeit one with a closer format to Cuphead given its greater emphasis on boss fights.

Week 1 showed us offseason narratives mean nothing until games are played

We might not be through 2025's opening scenes, but we've already upended the Heisman race and slayed a giant. Castellanos had promised a win, saying in June he saw no way Alabama could stop him. Lo and behold, he was right. The signal-caller who was benched at Boston College in November ran all over an Alabama defense that seemed utterly flustered at times, despite FSU's game plan including just 14 pass attempts, nine of which were completions.Fewest completions in a win over Alabama since 2008: FSU - 9, today Okla - 9, Wk13, 2024 LSU - 10, Wk10, 2011 Mich - 11, bowl, 2024 Aub - 11, Wk14, 2013 Aub - 13, Wk14, 2010 So, 3 all-time Saban classics (Cam, 9-6, Kick 6) and 3 of DeBoer's 14 games as Bama HC.— 💫🅰️♈️🆔 (@ADavidHaleJoint) August 30, 2025Things are different at LSU too. So much of the college football world had grown to love Brian Kelly's annual Week 1 postgame news conferences in which he'd raise a podium over his head while decrying his lack of a ground game and yelling, "Hulk smash!" But this year's Bayou Bengals actually played hard from start to finish and finally snagged a season-opening win. After an offseason in which conference commissioners tried to codify their own stories in the form of scheduling metrics, guaranteed playoff bids and TV revenue splits, a real Saturday of games is the respite from the narratives, a reminder that the games remain blissfully unpredictable.

One Of 2024's Best Games Is Getting A Huge Horror Expansion - GameSpot

Though Pacific Drive arguably wasn't a horror game before, the upcoming expansion will make it one. My personal pick for 2024 Game of the Year was Pacific Drive, a game that is hard to describe briefly. It's a game in which you upgrade and repair a station wagon that you drive through a very strange stretch of forest roads in the Pacific Northwest, known in the game as the Olympic Exclusion Zone.Whispers in the Woods is Pacific Drive's upcoming 8- to 12-hour expansion that gives it a haunting overhaul. It's the game's first "true expansion," Ironwood Studios founder and creative director Cassandra Dracott told me, following a number of patches and content updates since the game debuted in February 2024.But we didn't do a lot to intentionally build on that horror. We just wanted to build on the atmosphere," Dracott said. But the team at Ironwood was influenced by "how scary the game was for some people," leading to them taking this expansion much farther down that path.Dracott explained how the expansion adds a gameplay element called Artifacts, which are "mysterious objects that are left behind by this enigmatic group" that build on top of each other to create new experiences with each trip outside of the warm light of your garage.

However, with the PlayStation 5 now a staple of every gamer’s home and with there even rumours of Sony’s next-gen console arriving sooner than we think, it is about time we said goodbye to the PlayStation 4. These cheap games under $20 offer engaging gameplay and incredible value for money, ensuring you'll get dozens of hours of playtime for a low cost. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 seemed like a steal when it was released for $50. Call of Duty drops a whopping 100 GB on PS5, and fans think it's due to Battlefield 6: "Competition is always good for gaming" | GamesRadar+

Multiple people respond that this is the "best thing CoD has done in years." I also frequently find myself having to delete a game to make room for another, or in the case of something as big as CoD used to be, having to delete half my gaming library. Naturally, developers are often looking for ways to optimize their games, but one person believes Battlefield 6 could have been the motivating factor here. "Battlefield 6 announces that its minimum install size is 55 GB, with recommended 80 GB," they write. "Not even a month later, CoD optimizes its install by reducing it by over 100 GB.I'm Issy, a freelancer who you'll now occasionally see over here covering news on GamesRadar. I've always had a passion for playing games, but I learned how to write about them while doing my Film and TV degrees at the University of Warwick and contributing to the student paper, The Boar.Even though we've gone from tiny, 8 MB memory cards to 1 TB solid-state drives, it feels like we have less space than ever due to how massive game files have become. So, this change is going to make keeping the game installed much less of a burden for people.
